It began as three groups and became one. Sells 7th, St Augustine’s and Warden Hill have joined to form the brand new Icknield Way Scout Group, marking the moment with an official open day and a large group investiture — an afternoon of activities, friendship and community spirit.
Launching alongside them is the Aquilla Explorer Unit, the group’s partner section. In just its first three weeks the unit had already trialled expedition food, cooked on traditional Trangia stoves, played human hungry hippos, and welcomed Street Fathers to the launch — showing that, handled properly, even axes and knives can be safe, and that managing a sausage sizzle and s’mores may be the most important skill of all.
Aquilla have their first camp booked for August, with every aspect planned by the Explorers themselves. The unit meets every Friday at 7.30pm at Icknield Way Scout HQ — and they’d be glad to see you.
